Casting (Lost‑Wax Casting) Process
Stainless steel casting parts are commonly produced via investment casting, also known as the lost‑wax method. It is a mature manufacturing technology for high‑precision metal components.
The investment casting workflow starts with creating an accurate wax pattern, which acts as an exact replica of the target metal part. Wax patterns can be made for iron, steel, copper and aluminium components.
The wax pattern is coated with ceramic shell material. Heat is applied to melt and remove the internal wax, leaving a hollow ceramic mould. Molten steel is poured into the mould cavity. Once the metal solidifies, the ceramic shell is broken away to release the finished casting.

FAQ:Pump & Valve Housing Castings
Q1: Can you manufacture custom castings based on our drawings or physical samples?A: Yes. We provide full‑custom casting service. Customers only need to offer 2D/3D drawings or original samples together with material and technical requirements. Our engineering team will review designs for manufacturability and cost‑optimization suggestions.
Q2: What casting processes do you support?A: We offer multiple casting technologies:‑ casting (lost‑wax casting) for high‑precision stainless‑steel parts‑ Shell casting‑ Sand casting for large‑size pump and valve housings. We select proper processes according to part size, tolerance and batch volume.
Q3: What material options are available for pump body castings?A: Available materials include grey cast iron, ductile iron, Ni‑resist alloy iron, carbon steel (WCB), stainless steel (304, 316L, CF8, CF3M) and aluminum alloys. Special alloy materials can be sourced upon request.
Q4: Can you perform CNC secondary machining on cast blanks?A: Yes. We provide complete downstream services including CNC milling, turning, drilling for sealing faces, flange surfaces and mounting holes. Castings can be delivered as finished machined parts.
Q5: What is your MOQ (minimum order quantity)?A: No fixed MOQ. We support small‑batch trial orders as well as large‑volume mass production. Unit price varies with order quantity.
Q6: How do you control common casting defects such as porosity, sand holes and cracks?A: Strict mold making, melting control and stress‑relief heat‑treatment are applied. Each casting goes through visual check and in‑process QC. Defective products will be rejected before shipment.
Q7: Do your stainless‑steel castings meet international standards?A: Our castings comply with widely‑recognized ASTM standards. Material certificates can be issued.
